Antarctic wildlife
The wildlife of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands survives in extreme conditions. Penguins are iconic of this region. The birds and mammals spend most of their life at sea but come ashore to breed. This gallery includes a small selection of my images from the region.
Adelie Penguins frequently jump out of the sea and rest on icebergs. Some are very steep and the penguins struggle to retain their balance.
