Antarctic wildlife
The wildlife of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands survives in extreme conditions. Penguins are iconic of this region. The birds and mammals spend most of their life at sea but come ashore to breed. This gallery includes a small selection of my images from the region.
Adelie Penguins is a species of the ice where they can nest in large colonies on the Antarctic continent and some of the surrounding islands. They enter and exit the water at speed and in groups to reduce the risk from their major predator, the Leopard Seal.
