Antarctic wildlife
The wildlife of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands survives in extreme conditions. Penguins are iconic of this region. The birds and mammals spend most of their life at sea but come ashore to breed. This gallery includes a small selection of my images from the region.
Adelie Penguins take to the sea on the Antarctic Peninsula where they search for food sometimes feeding hundreds of kilometres from their nesting sites.
