Antarctic wildlife
The wildlife of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands survives in extreme conditions. Penguins are iconic of this region. The birds and mammals spend most of their life at sea but come ashore to breed. This gallery includes a small selection of my images from the region.
Black-browed Albatross are seen in large numbers travelling majestically on the wind as you travel from South America across the Drake Passage to the Antarctic Peninsula. Albatross are pelagic birds spending all their life at sea, only coming to land to nest.
This pair of Black-browed Albatross were on their nest on West Point Island on the Falkland Islands.
