Antarctic wildlife
The wildlife of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands survives in extreme conditions. Penguins are iconic of this region. The birds and mammals spend most of their life at sea but come ashore to breed. This gallery includes a small selection of my images from the region.
The Striated Caracara is a predator and scavenger found in Tierra del Fuego and on the Falkland Islands where it will frequently feed on penguins. This group were feasting on a Gentoo Penguin.
