First iceberg

Travelling to Antarctica is a very special journey. Early explorers were both mesmerised and terrified of 'ice islands' which would emerge from the fog and have to be avoided while the ship was under sail - no modern-day technology to help detect and avoid them.

The sight of the first iceberg as one travels south defines the journey as different. One is truly entering the world of ice.
